Mike Meier, a member of the Baton Rouge Table Tennis Club, is a finalist to umpire at the 1st Youth Olympic Games, August 14–26, 2010, in Singapore.
As part of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Young Umpire Project, umpires ages 16 to 30 certified as National or International Umpires were invited to apply to officiate the event. Nominated by USA Table Tennis (USATT), the national governing body for the Olympic sport of table tennis in the United States, Mike was one of 185 from 55 countries to submit an application. He is one of 20 finalists who recently participated in ITTF Online Umpire Training.
During the month of May, nine umpires will be selected to work the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. The field of athletes playing in the event can only be born in 1994 or 1995.
